The Magnifier - Macro Photography App offers a practical tool for close-up inspection through a standard camera interface. Upon launching, it defaults to a typical camera view, facilitating immediate usage.

Users can engage the magnification feature by touch and hold anywhere on the screen, enlarging the view to approximately 3x, up to 7x. The magnification circle remains visible for five seconds after releasing the hold, allowing for precise adjustment; it disappears upon a subsequent tap.

If the camera switch option is enabled, a photo is automatically captured when the user lifts their finger after holding, and thumbnail previews are arranged sequentially at the bottom of the screen. When more than five thumbnails exist, the oldest entries are overwritten to accommodate new images.

Thumbnails are interactive; tapping one allows users to add comments to individual photos before saving, enhancing contextual documentation.

The app’s focusing mechanism responds directly to tap locations, with a focus sequence progressing from near to far objects, aiding in detailed examination.

An integrated torch (flashlight) can be activated for enhanced illumination in low-light conditions.

The preview video can be sharpened using a dedicated button, improving image clarity during inspection.

Additionally, there is an option to emphasize the focused subject within the preview by activating corner detection, aiding precise identification of the target object.

A comprehensive photo management interface displays stored images along with their associated comments for easy review.

The app includes a feature that pauses the live preview after approximately ten seconds of device stillness, resuming automatically when movement is detected, which conserves device resources during idle periods.

This application is built upon open-source software including GPUImage (Copyright (c) 2012, Brad Larson et al.), which underpins many of the image processing capabilities.
